As a writer, the concept of voice is important. When the reader's eyes run over the pages of text that I write, I want them to hear a consistent voice in the theater of their mind.  I want that voice to be an anchor as they sail the oceans of my imagination, giving them the confidence to read with abandon and to take the journey with me.

Audio books bring a whole new dimension to the accessibility of the written word.  They help people fit them into their very busy lives.  An audio book lets them relax and enjoy a story, perhaps closing their eyes, as they give over to the story teller.

Choosing a narrator for a book is a nerve wracking process at first.  I already know how the story teller's voice sounds in my own mind and sometimes finding an actual voice that "fits" is a challenge.  Recently, I have been blessed in that department and a very talented narrator and musician, just getting started in the business, found me.

Jeff Persson signed on to read my recent books Dragonae and Awakened.  His voice is amazing and the background soundtrack he composed adds a whole new dimension to the story.  Check out the link to the fifteen minute sample of Dragonae.

Here's another sample from the story:  Battle Sample

Jeff recently launched a Kickstarter Campaign to help him get a firm foothold in the narration, soundtrack and music business.  Here's what he hopes to achieve, in his own words:

With the pledges received I will be paying the membership fees to join APAC (Audio Publishers Association).  This will be a necessary step into a bigger publishing world.  If I raise enough through pledges, I will upgrade my home studio and invest in a professional level cinematic scoring suite: Native Instruments "Kontact Ultimate" which is a 650 GB sound library considered "industry standard" in cinematic scoring for film.  Strings, horns, pianos, organs, drums, synths, and choirs.  Everything needed to create complete symphonies, and more.  However, the immediate goals of Aesthetic Audio (AA) is to focus on the current audio books contracted.  The funds pledged beyond the suite of instruments will be spent on Facebook and Youtube advertising to promote "Dragonae" and "Awakened" once they are officially published and available on Audible and Itunes, and targeting fantasy and sci-fi enthusiasts across the globe.

Here are some samples of the music Jeff has created related to the characters in Dragonae:  Sweet Eillen , Duggal and Canus

He has even created images of the characters in Dragonae too! Check the images on the left. His Dungeons and Dragons roots are clearly showing, right?

You can check out his Kickstarter Campaign here.  At least, consider buying the man a coffee (i.e. donate $5).  One day you might be able to brag that you helped an Academy Award Winner get his start.  Don't believe me?  Go back and click on the links above.

This guy know his stuff.
